Dunavățu de Jos travel guide: village stays, lake excursions and trips to Perișor

Dunavățu de Jos is a village base for a holiday organised around the Delta’s waterways: stay ashore, walk out to a departure point and choose a lake excursion or a longer journey towards the Black Sea. Its accommodation providers offer quite different experiences, from small guesthouses to properties with pools and restaurants. Decide how much of each day you want to spend afloat before choosing a package.

Choosing your village base

For a small-property example, NEST advertises five rooms, boat outings, kayaking and parking at Strada Transformatorului 1. Sharaiman, at 3 Eternității Street, combines accommodation with a restaurant and boat trips. Its own information lists an outdoor pool season of May–September and two Type 2 electric-car charging points. Check access and charges for your vehicle directly.

These are examples to compare, rather than a promise of availability. Request the room type, meal arrangements, parking details and the actual operating dates of any facilities that matter to you. In October, a summer pool photograph is not evidence that the pool will be open. Ask whether the boat excursion is sold separately and whether a trip requires a minimum number of guests.

Start with the Uzlina and Murighiol lakes

Sharaiman’s lake-excursion page, checked on 6 October 2026, advertises a three-hour outing at 150 lei per adult, with a 50% reduction for children under seven. The advertised windows are 10:00–13:00 and 15:00–18:00. It describes a covered boat, lifejackets and an authorised skipper or guide.

Confirm the day’s departure and complete itinerary directly. That page also contains an unrelated Caraorman description beneath its lake information, so use the specific trip name when making an enquiry. Ask about guiding language, the exact boarding point, reserve entry charges and the policy if weather prevents departure. For children, confirm a correctly sized lifejacket before you board.

A longer trip to Perișor beach

The same operator’s Perișor II itinerary illustrates how much travel can sit behind a beach visit: it describes about three hours navigating plus a one-hour stop. The route follows channels and lakes towards the sea, and the published adult fare is 150 lei, including fuel and skipper, when checked on 6 October 2026.

Its departure information is inconsistent: one section says 14:30 while others list morning and afternoon departures. Obtain the actual meeting time and return time in writing. Ask whether the beach stop and route are available for your date, what shelter the boat provides and whether you can extend the stop. Take your own drinking water and discuss toilet and food arrangements. A beach excursion is not the same as a stay at a staffed seaside resort.

A simple two-night plan

Use the first afternoon to settle in, find the meeting point and agree the following day’s excursion. A shorter lake outing leaves space for a leisurely meal and time around your accommodation. Reserve a separate day for Perișor if you want a sea trip; do not squeeze its return against a fixed onward connection. If conditions change, ask your host about an alternative local outing rather than insisting on the original destination.

For another nearby base and an archaeological visit, see our Murighiol guide. Bring binoculars, a hat, insect repellent and a waterproof bag for cameras. Quiet observation and a route with time to stop often suit wildlife interests better than a long list of destinations.

Use the official reserve permit service for current requirements, and tell your operator if you intend to fish or paddle independently so that they can explain the arrangements relevant to that activity. Our Danube Delta planning guide helps you compare village bases and organise the wider journey.
