Charlottenburg offers an unusual village walk in Banat, with a circular plan that becomes especially clear in an aerial photograph. On the ground, take time to follow the public streets and notice the relationship between houses, plots and the centre. Add a confirmed museum visit to turn a brief look around into a more substantial cultural outing.

Understand the village plan
Visit Timiș’s village account places Charlottenburg in Bogda commune and dates its foundation to 1771, during the second period of German settlement in Banat. It describes a regularly designed circular village with an inner diameter of approximately 210 metres.
The same account identifies the Holy Trinity church, built in 1875–1876, as another landmark. Look at the village as a lived-in settlement rather than an open-air exhibition: private homes, gardens and yards are not visitor spaces. Ask before photographing residents closely or entering a property.
Follow a quiet walking circuit
Use the circular plan as a way to orient yourself, then take the time the village needs rather than imposing a rigid route. Compare the direction of the houses and the shape of their plots with the overhead photograph. A short circuit, a pause and one indoor stop can be enough for an enjoyable visit.
Choose a legal parking place that leaves entrances clear. Walk where it is permitted and stay aware of local traffic. The plan is easiest to understand from above, so do not expect every ground-level view to reveal a perfect circle; the pleasure is in recognising the arrangement gradually.
Visit the Forestry and Hunting Museum
Romsilva’s museum presentation records its opening in 2014, in a building formerly used as a hunting house and later a forestry office. Its purpose includes explaining wildlife and hunting history in Banat, alongside biodiversity, ecology and sustainable management.
The National Heritage Institute’s entry describes photographs, hunting trophies and preserved animals and birds. It places the museum behind the church, opposite the kindergarten, and lists Wednesday–Sunday, 10:00–18:00.
Confirm the current opening, adult admission and guided arrangements at +40 744 885 334 or through timisoara@timisoara.rosilva.ro. Ask about step-free access to the particular spaces you want to see. Families should know in advance that the displays include taxidermy and hunting trophies.
Arrange educational activities in advance
The operator’s activities page describes a programme for the 2026–2027 school year, with museum visits and ecological activities. Its displayed school-project price is 7 lei per child, with a separate 10 lei photo/video charge per device. Confirm these arrangements for your group; the project rate does not establish ordinary adult admission.
The programme includes creative learning, observation and group activities, but specific workshops need arranging. Discuss the children’s ages, group size, language and available session before travelling. Contact for scheduling is the same mobile number above, with mihaelaoana2374@gmail.com also listed.
Explore a separate local heritage collection
SchwabenLand’s own website presents a restaurant and museum at Charlottenburg no. 12, with objects and reconstructed domestic spaces relating to communities in Banat and Ardeal. This is a separate venue from the forestry museum.
The site lists Friday, 12:00–20:00; Saturday and Sunday, 11:00–21:00 for restaurant and museum. Confirm museum admission, meal availability and any group arrangements at +40 756 480 999. Ask which parts of your visit need booking rather than assuming a restaurant reservation covers everything.
Plan the journey around a confirmed visit
Allow roughly two to four hours as an itinerary suggestion for a village circuit, one museum and a break. Check the route and return transport for your travel date. A rural stop is easier to enjoy when the main indoor attraction is expecting you and the return journey is settled.
