The Răchițele Waterfall, also called the Bride's Veil , is located on the Stanciului Valley, in the area of the Răchițele locality in the Mărgău commune , Cluj county .

Description[ edit | edit source ]

It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Romania. The water fall is over 30 m. In winter, the rocky wall freezes, making it an excellent place for ice climbing for those passionate about this sport.

Legend[ edit | edit source ]

An old legend says that the waterfall's name comes from the fact that a long time ago a bride fell from the steep cliffs in the area where the waterfall is located, and her veil got caught on the rocks. There, the wedding party stopped and started crying, thus forming the waterfall.

In reality, the name could be attributed to the shape of the waterfall which resembled a veil [ 1 ] .
